Disability Connect meetings
The next DC meeting will be held on Tuesday 13th July '10, 2pm-4pm, at 1 Bayham Road, W13. The main topic is the DC Housing Charter. Housing is a major issue for disabled people. The system for allocating accessible properties is failing and so is the system for making existing properties accessible. The charter is now in draft form so we are still able to include more examples of how this has affected individual disabled people, so come and share your experiences with us. Plus a discussion on how we can effectively promote the charter. Usha Prema, LBE, will follow with information on Personalisation, Individual Budgets and the Stroke Services. Finally, Peter Vittles, ECVS, will be available to talk to regarding disability hate crime.
Direct Payments User Group
The last meeting took place on 15th December '09. Gordon Crighton (from LBE’s Personalisation Team) gave an update on LBE’s plans for offering an alternative means of paying Direct Payments, which could be a pre-paid card scheme.
