About ECIL

Vision

Ealing Centre for Independent Living’s (ECIL’s) vision is an inclusive society where people of all disabilities have equality of opportunity and access and are empowered to lead full and independent lives, working in partnership to remove any barriers to achieving these outcomes.

Mission

Our mission is to work with users, partners and society to eliminate barriers and encourage inclusion, independence and informed choice for people of all disabilities who live and work in Ealing. As disabled people ourselves, we aim to be a welcoming, accessible and inclusive organisation in everything we do.

Our work directly benefits some 48,000 people who belong to the pan disability community in the London borough of Ealing.

Our Strategic Aims for 2017 - 2020 are

  1. User LED community enrichment work

The services we offer provider crucial social hub for Ealing's disabled community. They ensure disabled people have somewhere they feel they belong, help to reduce isolation, provide life skills and social skills, enable people to learn from each other and reduce demand on other services. They are the core of our work and must continue.

  2. Generate more income to ensure we are financially viable.

We know that Council funding will reduce up to 2020 so we need to turn to external funding sources and explore new services to bring in money.

  3. Empower disabled people to achieve independence.

We are a partner in Ealing Specialist Advice Services (ESAS), which provides information, advice and support. We need to build on this by providing an Advocacy service to make it easier for disabled people to exercise their own rights and choices in an informed manner.

  4. Lead user-generate campaigns to make disabled people’s voices heard.

Campaigning is a powerful way to make the voices of disabled People hold and raise awareness of the issues so Society can respond and move the barriers to inclusion.

  5. Work with partners and volunteers to build our capacity and capability.

Campaigning is a powerful way to make the voices of disabled People hold and raise awareness of the issues so Society can respond and move the barriers to inclusion.
